Calendar - Event Detail << Back to Calendar NAFED Training Seminars in Louisiana Baton Rouge, LA Mar 23-24, 2010 The National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors (NAFED) will be conducting training on Pre-Engineered Systems, and Engineered Systems at the Office of State Fire Marshal. These classes have been approved by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal for initial licensing and continuing education credit. (Please note that your company must also have an employee with NICET level III certification in Special Hazards before the State Fire Marshal will issue an engineered systems license to the company.) However, this engineered systems training could apply to continuing education credit for any type license. You should attend this training if you would like to learn more about engineered systems. For Louisiana based companies, the cost of the classes is reimbursable through the Louisiana Department of Labor's Small Business Training. To apply for the reimbursement, you must complete your application thirty (30) days in advance of the training and the employees must have had unemployment taxes withheld from their earnings. This reimbursement also applies to the cost of standards and reference materials purchased as part of the registration fee. To learn more about how you can receive this reimbursement, go to www.laworks.net, then click on On-Line services and scroll down to Small Business Training. If you need assistance, please call Jennifer Johnson at the Louisiana Department of Labor. Her telephone number is (225) 925-4446. NOTE: Attendance at these seminars does not grant NAFED or International Code Council (ICC) certification. If an individual wishes to achieve ICC/NAFED certification, they must register for and successfully complete the appropriate certification exams. Under current Louisiana regulations ICC/NAFED certification is not a requirement to obtain a license in Louisiana for pre-engineered, or engineered extinguishing system technicians. NAFED's training seminars provide six Louisiana contact hours of education credits per each full day course and eight education credits for ICC and NAFED certification. These seminars are great as general technician training seminars and provide credits that may be used for certification or license renewal purposes. These seminars consist of a review of the applicable standards and an examination at the end of the seminar. Approximately two weeks after the seminars, attendees will receive written notification if they passed or failed the examination.
