If you are a distributor located within or doing work in Illinois, let NAFED help you meet the state's new certification requirements.

According to the Illinois Administrative Code, TITLE 41: Fire Protection Section 280.30 (b) 1 (F): Effective January 1, 2011, all employees must obtain and maintain a NAFED certification and submit a copy of such certification to renew their license.

To help meet these requirements, NAFED is offering training seminars to aid technicians who are planning to take a certification exam or are just looking for an excellent training opportunity. Eight hours of educationalcredits will be provided for each seminar taken.

The ICC/NAFED Pre-Engineered Kitchen Fire Extinguishing System Technician certification exam is based on NFPA 17A, Wet Chemical Fire Extinguishing Systems, 2009 Edition; NFPA 96, Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations, 2008 Edition; 2006 International Fire Code; and 2006 International Mechanical Code.

The ICC/NAFED Pre-Engineered Industrial Fire Extinguishing System Technician certification exam is based on, NFPA 17, Dry Chemical Fire Extinguishing Systems, 2009 Edition; NFPA 2001, Standard on Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems, 2004 Edition; NFPA 33, Standard for Spray Applications, 2007 Edition; NFPA 34, Standard for Dipping and Coating Process, 2007 Edition; 2009 International Fire Code; and 2009 International Mechanical Code.

The ICC/NAFED national certification program allows those who have passed the certification exams to apply for a license in any state that adopts the ICC/NAFED program, WITHOUT having to retake the certification exams!
