At the annual meeting in New Orleans in May, NAFED honored two individuals for their contributions to the industry and the association with special recognition awards upon their retirement.
Fred Goodnight of Amerex Corporation has been in fire protection for over four decades. He has been a member of the Compressed Gas Association (CGA) and the NFPA where he served several committees: 10, 30A, 403, 408 and 412. As a member of the Fire Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (FEMA), he has served as president, chairman of the portable division, and chairman of the portable division technical committee. He has served on ISO TC21/SC2 as the principal delegate for ANSI and has served on several UL advisory councils, technical panels, and working groups.
Donald Hausz of All Out Fire Protection in Holbrook, New York, has been an active NAFED member as well as active with various local associations and fire protection organizations. Don has served as NAFEED’s principal representative on NFPA 30A, Code for Motor Fuel Dispensing Facilities and Repair Garages, for many years. For a good portion of that time Don was the sole voice of our industry on the committee, and he worked diligently to have the standard mandate the portable extinguisher requirements found in NFPA 10.
