More Information on Health Care Reform for
Small Businesses

The government has released further guidance for small businesses on the health care reforms instituted March 23, 2010. In an open letter to small business owners, the Small Business Administration shares some useful links to important information on the Affordable Care Act, including a broad overview of the act and some clarifications on the tax credit for small businesses.

Behind the links you'll find information on who will be affected by employer responsibility requirements, how standard operating rules will reduce administrative hassles, the establishment of SHOP Exchanges, how the new federal tax credit will interact with pre-existing state tax credits, and how credit will be extended for add-on dental and vision plans.

If you are ready to dive in and determine whether you are eligible for the tax credit and calculate how large a credit you will receive, the IRS has also posted Notice 2010-44, Tax Credit for Employee Health Insurance Expenses of Small Employers.
