Cartridge Operated Training Online

NAFED has added a new online training seminar to its expanding offerings. Servicing Cartridge Operated Fire Extinguishers provides a general overview of inspection, maintenance, and recharge procedures for cartridge-operated fire extinguishers.

Product Recalls

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of two different alarm devices. Certain Kidde smoke and combination smoke/CO alarms were recalled due to alarm failure and the Siemens SBGA-34 Audible Fire Alarm Base was recalled due to risk of injury.

Limo Extinguisher Requirement Adopted in California

Following a limo fire on the San Mateo Bridge that killed five women in May 2013, California legislators have been working on a bill that would require stronger fire safety precautions in similar vehicles. Governor Jerry Brown approved a bill in September 2014 that requires two fire extinguishers, one in the driver compartment and one in the passenger compartment, and inspections from the California Highway Patrol every thirteen months for modified limousines that hold up to ten passengers.
